Is natural/organic dog food worth it?
I currently feed my 14 week cocker spaniel Eukanuba puppy food. I’ve heard that it is a great brand, but lately I’ve been thinking about going natural/organic with his food. I want to know if I do, is it worth it (price difference,hassle, etc.). Anyone who feeds there dog natural/Organic Food please let me know what kind you think is best & why you think it is/isn’t better for them. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

While I don’t know who is giving everyone a thumbs down, I appreciate all the information greatly. I’ve been doing some research and it does seem that Eukanuba isn’t the best food after all. Now the hunt begins for something with better ingredients! Thanks so much to everyone!
“Natural” and “organic” are very lose terms, there’s no standard and it can be pretty meaningless. I’m not disparaging those of you who ascribe to these terms, but as far as dogs are concerned, the important issue is what’s in the dog food. Anything that grows is “organic”, so that’s vague – does it mean pesticide free, nothing artificial = that would be worth paying for.
The important issue in dog food is whether it is meat or junk food fillers – supermarket dry is largely corn meal, read the ingredients.
I feed my dogs Canidae, meat is the first ingredient (not meat meal, which is beaks, feet, bones, etc.), it has no artificial preservatives or coloring (beneful is “cute” because of the coloring and fake shapes), and no corn meal. It is certainly worth it to feed dogs meat rather than corn meal – that’s for fattening cattle.
So, up to you about the natural/organic, I don’t think that means anything in human food either other than that it’s something that grows rather than something man-made.
I will do want pesticide free, so I go to 2 local farms that grow pesticide free crops – I suppose that’s certianly organic and natural.
In the case of dog food, read the ingredients – meat should be the first ingredient – no corn meal and no preservatives.
You find food like that in feed stores (Ranch Hand here) or pet stores that specialize in good nutritious kibble, not in the supermarket or Walmart.
